Breaking Bad - Media analysis


Language

There is a bold title, background image, which are key convections of a advert. By the a the text "The Final Season" shows that this is important part for fans who watch Breaking Bad which attracts viewers with more attention so that they want to find out more ; the title is bold which stands out so viewers instantly recognise the advert and what it is about and get interested. The background shows 5 actors and 1 actor is a lead actor as he is focused more as his image is enlarged. The image has a contrast of two colours which shows that there are two sides which engages the viewers to have a closer look at the advert. The image they have taken is a full view of each character to show how important these people are to the viewer. Furthermore,  'Walter White' and 'Jesse Pinkman' are in the middle of the advert because the audience should notice them first as they are more significant actors of the show. The genre that Breaking Bad is crime drama and thriller mainly.

Institution

The institution behind Breaking Bad is created by Vince Gilligan. The institution which created this is AMC which run the channel. AMC will be competition with many other channels so they had to make this a good poster. There were many production company's such as High Bridge Entertainment, Gran Via Productions and Sony Pictures Television.

Audience

The audience for this show is mainly 60% Male and 40% Female because this show has a variety of actor which are male and female. This show would target people who are more interested in crime and drama and thriller. Breaking Bad is aimed at 18-49 years old however but many teenagers watch this show as well with there parents. This show is aimed at adults however many teenagers watch it as well. Furthermore people who are at a working class so people who have an average income who can afford to watch this programme or can be viewed over Netflix. Over 10.5 Million people watch this live so this meant this show was going for a huge audience. The product for this show is that AMC wants people to watch this show.

Representation

The representation of the advert is set differently. They have only gone for white people and the majority being white showing that it was regarding the audience. There are many other race background who are good at acting but haven't been represented in the advert which shows that there isn't equality. The lead characters are male and they are represented much greater than female which shows a lack of representation in female factors which shows that more Male audience is likely to watch this due to this. The area of marketing this is presented as is people who watch drama shows and mainly men as the way the advert is represented it shows a higher chance of men to like this kind of show.
