Basic Details
  1. Channel 4 news is on from 7pm Monday to Friday about 55 minutes.
  2. The first programme was presented in 1982
  3. The show has won numerous amounts of awards through the years: International Emmy Award for News in 2014, 13 and 12; they have won British Academy Television Award for Best News Coveragem in 2012, 2004 and 1996; British Academy Television Award for Best News and Current Affairs Journalism in 1994 and 1993.
  4. The media institution that produces Channel 4 News  is Channel Four television corporation so this means it is self-funded company.
 Presenters
  1. The presenters of the show are Krishnan Guru Marth, Cathy Newman and Matt frei and John snowman
  2. All of the presenters normally wear suits and formal and professional clothes to reach out to their target audience. This communicates an audience that they are serious about the news. 
  3. The TV news a variety of news reporters so that it is culturally diverse.
  4. Other reporters are used by telling the news story from different locations to present the news
  5. There isn’t a balance between the male and female presenters because there are 3 Males and 1 Female which makes it unbalanced. With the race and ethnicity there is one British Asian and 3 British presenters which makes it unstable.  These aspects make the target audience mainly white British viewers due to this mentioned above.
   Opening Sequence
  1. The shot was about a serious topic on immigration.
  2. The opening scene uses graphics and images to attract the audience by making the opening news more modern and more appealing for the viewer.
  3. At the start of the news there was typical dramatic music that was used.
  4. In the start of the news they should the news stories that were going come up in the show for the following hour.
Studio mise-en-scene
  1. In the news programme you can see the desk and the TV screen.
  2. The presenters at the start of the programme are standing up and then after the presenter are sitting down on a chair.
  3. The technology is visible in the show to give a impression that they have modern technology.
  4. The colour that the studio used was mainly purple and the secondary colour was white.
How news stories are presented
  1. The new programme typically give a brief statement of what the new is about and then show a short footage of the incident with a depth explanation of the situation.
  2. The programme uses camera to record the programme, they use many reporter In the area, moreover use of graphics to give a modern effect to the studio, has many interviews.
  3. Channel 4 news normally covers: World News, Sports, Politics,  
  4. News stories on the election at the moment keep people interested by having interviews with many political leaders. Another new story was on migrants trying to get into the EU and the news programme shows live footage to keep the watcher entertained.    
Running Order
  1. The top story was about the election.
  2. The top story was on for about for about ¼ of the shows timing.
  3. Each story is spilt into equal intervals and one story is about 5 minutes
  4. This was because so that the audience don’t get bored on one story only.
 Audience
  1. The main target audience is young adults aged between18-30 years old.
  2. People are mainly likely to watch this is because of the characters which are shown on the channel. The uses of the presenters attracts the audience and the way is presented to the audience.
  3. The audience have the ability to go on the website of Channel 4 news and there they can comment on the news that they have watched or comment on YouTube.
  4. The audience pleasures from escapism and surveillance.
Institution
  1. The media institution that produces Channel 4 News is Channel Four Television Corporation so this means it is self-funded company.
  2. It has its own institution.
  3. It fits because it meets the audience requirement that the channel has.
  4. OFCOM have certain rules and regulation so that the news is presented it accurate and impartially so that it affects everyone

  2. The website offers the world to view the latest new programmes and read the news
  3. It does have a Twitter feed
  4. It allows the audience to tweet there opinions and views on the news.
  5. The audience can get involved by writing comments.
